♥ Nyonya Dumpling ♥

I went my grandma's house at Malacca on 24th of May (Saturday).

It is a special day for me because i have been a long time no visiting my grandparents there.By the way, my mother went there to learn and make nyonya dumpling for her colleagues. (She is a good PK 1 and she treat everybody hearty yet I only ate 1 nyonya dumpling as there are many nyonya dumplings because she treated all of them to her teachers =.=") Well...forget about it...I am used to it...

How to distinguish our original dumpling and nyonya dumpling?

Actually nyonya dumpling has a distinctive appearance which the colour of it's glutinous rice is blue and white. Other than that, it's smell is special and it's taste is sweet. It's fillings are absolutely different from a dumpling which contains fatty meat, mushroom, chestnut, shrimp and so on. The only fillings inside a nyonya dumpling is just meat with sweet flavour. I love to eat nyonya dumpling made by my grandma. My grandma is a good cook and i miss her cooking very much. This trip i can enjoy her cooking yet there are just some simple dishes.

This is what i ate for my lunch at Sunday noon and the nyonya dumplings.
The cover is almost the same as other dumplings but who knows there is somethings special hiding inside the leave's wrapping.

Few days later, my mum tried to make her first nyonya dumplings by her own. This is how the blue colour of glutinous rice been made. We prepared this the night before we want to make the nyonya dumpling.

The next day (actually these 2 weeks were my PPT exam weeks), after school then my mum started to cook the fillings. It is very simple because we only needed to fry onions, garlics, mushroom‘s pieces and meat. The most difficult thing is the flavouring. It's hard to explain here so i just skip the process. ^^

Okay...Here is the nyonya dumplings.it's appearance is a bit ugly yet it's taste not bad.

p/s : I discovered that after my mid-year MUET exam I am becoming neglect my English and after my PPT exam I became a lazy girl again. Where is my endurance?

Tradition is the most precious asset
in our life and for our future generation.
We should cherish it and
pass it forward.
